RE: Fiver covers

We stopped in at a Camping World store last weekend to get a cover. They are selling like hotcakes right now so they didn't have our size. The Tyvek one was priced around $300.00 and if you are a member you get a discount. We joined the club so we will get the discount when they get them in. You can get them online too and with free shipping... That's what I did only took a few days.

RE: Dometic Recall - NO LONGER REPLACING COOLING UNIT

I also learned of this recall from this very topic and got it fixed right away at the end of May. Just received my recall notice yesterday. Sure glad to know the manufacturer is on top of this... NOT!!

RE: Trailer Light Plug

Maybe this is the thread you were talking about? Relocating the 7-pin into the bed? It is relatively easy, the hardest part I found was building up the nerve to drill such a big hole in my brand new truck. After drilling a small pilot hole the big one was easier and the thought of not having to worry about the cord dragging on the ground... Good Luck.... :W

RE: Angle hitching/unhitching?

When ever we go boondocking I end up hitching and un-hitching at an angle. Worst problem is remember the angle I unhitched at after camping a few days. Just take my time and even put a board under one tire to lessen the angle if needed, but the 4 way head is very nice to have.

RE: Sleep Number Beds

We went the expensive route first too, bought a very expensive pillow top for home and after 10 months I couldn't take the DW complaints anymore. Looked harder the 2nd time and being a bit wiser I liked the idea of the Sleep number so she could have very firm and I could have it a bit softer. Life was so good at home but when camping was soo aweful those lumpy springs. Although the installation guys were a bit shocked they did set it up in the 5er, I had lengthened the bed box and drilled holes so that the pump could be in the storage area under the bed and the a/c was close enough. Camping now is just like home and always a good nights sleep. Couldn't be happier... I've seen camping world has had online specials for the sleep number lately....

RE: 5th wheel hitch thoughts

I sure like my 4 way hitch saves stress on the frames when I'm boondocking, many times I would have extreme difficulty hitching unhitching without the 4 way tilt. On installation I vote for doing it yourself if you are mechanically inclined. My hitch was professionally installed at a hitch installing shop, a few weeks later (because I'm always checking my vehicles) I noticed that a few of the bolts looked kinda long. Well the nuts were vibrating off probably due to lack of torque. I took care of that and when I got the bed sprayed had to remove the hitch (shop didn't want the liability) so I bought new bolts and torqued to speck. Haven't had any loose bolts since and I check them before each trip just to be sure it's safe.

RE: JT Strongarms

Ditto!!! They work very well and much worth the investment. If DW is happy sleeping/resting everyone is happy!!!!

RE: JT Strong Arms - WOW!!!!

I love my JT's as does DW. DW is a happy camper now so camping is a good experience. Best $299 I've paid.

RE: COmpartment door locks

I found some at Home Depot, just take one of your old ones with you. As said before they come in many sizes, and the door thickness can be different.

RE: F450 disc brake work

For a TV it maybe more economical to just replace the rotors as the prices are not that bad (unless a shop changes them) but IMHO it is safer as stated before thin rotors build up heat and tend to warp and marginal minimum thickness can quickly become too thin.

RE: Anyone know of anyone that tried this stuff?

These guys have the smackbooster with instructions on building one for free or you can purchase a kit with all the parts. Not sure if this is totally for real but for a $50 - $100 investment if you were able to save 20% on fuel costs it may be worth a try?

RE: topper & mileage

I have tonneau cover on my F150, didn't notice any improved mileage like said before the weight difference probably killed that. But the truck rides better and I enjoy the benefit of having a very large trunk when shopping. Especially that X-mas shopping many stops but few trips back home to unload the bounty.

RE: cooling fans

I have the dual fan setup on my F150 and have no problems towing my boat over the hills in the desert. One fan is used most of the time the second kicks in when the A/C is turned on or when the temp reaches a certain point. Engine stays cooler when idling in the heat and sometimes runs a bit cool when pulling the hills with the A/C on as both fans are running. Did notice a power gain but can't say that it increased the mpg. I did keep the factory mechanical fan in case I needed to go back but after 4 years still no problems. Not sure yet if I want to add electric fans to the F250 PSD.

RE: Awning bracket pulled away from wall.

I had the same problem with mine, I took it to the dealer for repair as I never thought about the wood doll to fix it. I'll be remembering this as it makes so much since now. Probably what the dealer did. The worst part was waiting most of 2 weeks to get my 5er back. Easy fix: drill the hole slightly larger then existing, get a wood doll to fit the hole, cut to length, insert into hole, use Gorilla Glue to glue it in place. Re drill for mounting screws and you should have a sound repair. Gorilla glue expands and is impervious to water so the repair should be good.

RE: How to stop rocking

Yes the JT's work as advertised. DW is happy that the 5er is rock solid which makes for a happy camping trip.

RE: lite 5h wheel

Mine is 26' and Keystone promotes it as a 1/2 ton towable. But I believe you can't have too much truck.

RE: grand junction tri pod

I use the JT Strongarms to stabilze the 5er when parked. I got a square plastic fence post at Home Depot and built a box for my sewer hose. Used for the first time this last week end and what a difference to get out to use and even better to put away....

RE: trailers a rockin' ???

The $300 I spent for the JT Strongarms has got to be the best $$$ I have spent. Very little movement and DW is happy which we all know makes for a good camping experience.

RE: rear stabilizers

Mine are cordless also, just need to remember the extra battery or they may be manual.

RE: Newbies survived first outing

Congrats on your first outting. Your oven problem reminds me of our delivery inspection, the tech got the stove lit and then when I tried it the pilot would not stay lit. Waited a bit and tried again, then I remembered that I had seen this problem before on an apt furnace and told the salesman that there was a problem. 20 minutes later after the tech pulled the pilot mechanism out, fiddled with it and re-installed it worked fine. All he really had to do was move the gas output a little closer to the thermistor and it would have worked. I would say when you light it check the distance of the flame from the thermistor (that little metal bulb sticking out into the flame) if the flame isn't close enough to keep it hot it will shut off the gas.
